Design Services Terms

1. Payment and Refunds

Full payment is due at booking. Booking reserves your place in my Project Queue, and I begin work on your project right away. All fees are non-refundable once your project is booked.

2. Project Scope

My service covers the design of cabinetry-based spaces such as kitchens, bathrooms, pantries, mudrooms, and laundry rooms. That includes layout, cabinetry, appliances, and fixtures, along with selections for tile, countertops, lighting fixtures, paint, and flooring.

Projects are priced by room, as shown on your proposal. I reserve the right to determine project readiness and eligibility before proceeding.

3. Plans and Measurements

I design from dimensioned floor plans or a room scan from my app. Plans do not need to be final, but exterior walls must be. I can recommend moving interior walls and adjusting windows and exterior doors as part of your design.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the plans, scans, and dimensions you provide, and your architect or builder must confirm any change to walls, windows, or doors before construction.

4. Intake and Scheduling

After booking, you will complete a design intake form for each room you booked. Please submit your intake forms as soon as possible. Your design preferences, materials, and appliance details should be submitted through the intake forms, which serve as the record for your project.

Once your intake forms are received, we will schedule a brief 15-minute call to review them together. Your design timeline begins after that call:

• Projects of up to three rooms: your initial design is delivered within five business days.
• Projects of more than three rooms: your initial design is delivered within ten business days.

Your first design session is scheduled during the intake review call, at least two business days after your initial design is delivered, based on your availability.

5. Initial Design and Floor Plan Audit

Every initial design includes an audit of your complete floor plan, regardless of how many rooms you book. I review layout, traffic flow, clearances, and the placement of interior walls, windows, doors, and plumbing, and flag problems with recommended changes.

I am not an architect or structural engineer. Any recommended change to walls, windows, doors, plumbing, or structure must be reviewed and approved by your architect or builder. The audit identifies issues across your plan; design of rooms you have not booked is not included.

Your initial design also includes a virtual 3D tour of your complete floor plan. Rooms you have booked are fully designed. Other rooms appear as empty spaces showing walls, windows, and doors only, and are not designed unless added to your project.

6. The Design Session

Your project is completed in a live design session on Zoom, up to two hours long. Live design beyond that point stops being productive, so sessions do not run past two hours. During your session, we review your initial design together and I make edits in real time to finalize your space.

Projects of more than three rooms include a second session of up to two hours. The first session covers three rooms and the second covers the remaining rooms. Your first session is scheduled during the intake review call, and your second session is scheduled after the first.

7. Adding Rooms

Rooms added after your initial booking are designed in a subsequent week and do not change your scheduled session. Your initial design for added rooms is delivered within five business days of the start of that week, and a session for those rooms is scheduled after delivery.

8. Revisions

There is no separate revision round. Your design session brings the design to completion, with edits made live.

Refinements within your agreed layout and design direction, such as material or fixture swaps, minor placement adjustments, and visual refinements, are handled during the session. A new layout, a reoriented space, or a new design direction introduced after your session is new design work and requires a separate quote.

Revisions requested after delivery are billed at $400 per hour and scheduled separately.

9. Deliverables

Your final deliverables include:

• Virtual 3D tour of your complete floor plan
• Dimensioned floor plan
• Cabinetry plans and elevations
• Photorealistic renderings

Final deliverables are delivered within two business days of your design session, in a private gallery you can share with your contractor. Projects with a second session receive the remaining rooms' deliverables within two business days of that session.

10. Rescheduling and Missed Sessions

Your design session reserves time in my Project Queue. You may reschedule your session once with at least 24 hours' notice.

If you reschedule more than once, reschedule with less than 24 hours' notice, or miss a scheduled session, your session moves to my next available opening, and I cannot guarantee exact timelines.

11. Drawings, Dimensions, and Exclusions

All plans and elevations are for conceptual design purposes only and are not construction documents. Dimensions are included for design reference and follow the standards below. You are responsible for working with licensed professionals to produce construction-ready drawings and for field-verifying all dimensions before fabrication or installation.

11.1 Cabinetry

Base cabinets are assumed to be 36 inches high, including countertop, and 24 inches deep, and are labeled with width only; height and depth are noted only if non-standard. Wall cabinets are assumed to be 12 inches deep and are labeled with width and height only; depth is noted only if non-standard. Full-height cabinets are labeled with width, height, and depth. Cabinets with split front faces have each door or drawer face individually dimensioned in height. Toe kicks are assumed to be 4 inches high unless a different height is requested. Shelving within cabinetry, individual drawer and door faces, and cabinet interiors are not dimensioned, and molding widths and filler gaps are not individually labeled.

11.2 Shelving

Floating shelves are dimensioned by their height from the countertop and from each other.

11.3 Island and Layout

Island width, depth, and height are provided. Countertop overhang is dimensioned on the floor plan and side elevation views. Clearances between cabinetry and the island are also included.

11.4 Appliances and Fixtures

Appliances are modeled and dimensioned to the specifications you provide. Electrical outlets, plumbing fixtures, and similar elements are not dimensioned as to their exact location within the room.

11.5 Doors and Windows

Doors and windows are labeled using standard notation.

11.6 Ceiling and Lighting

Ceiling height is labeled on elevation views and is based on the dimensions you provide. Pendant height over the island is called out on the island elevation views.

11.7 Materials and Finishes

Renderings are representational. Expect variations in color, texture, and lighting from real-world products. Paint colors can be matched when both the manufacturer and color name are provided.

11.8 Exclusions

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, I do not provide structural, engineering, or construction documents; on-site measurement or supervision; electrical, plumbing, or HVAC layouts; or furniture, decor, or soft goods.

12. Communication

You can reach me by text or email with questions at any time during your project. Plans, photos, and files can be sent by email or through your intake form, and your final deliverables are shared in a private gallery.

13. Ownership, Privacy, and Portfolio Use

The designs, drawings, renderings, and files I create remain my intellectual property and are licensed to you for use on your project.

I may share renderings and visualizations from your project on my website, portfolio, and social media. Your full floor plans are always kept private.

14. Timelines

All timelines assume prompt communication and complete submissions. Delays in plans, materials, or feedback will extend your project schedule.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• I WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM MY DESIGN SERVICES, INCLUDING COSTS OF CONSTRUCTION, FABRICATION, INSTALLATION, OR CORRECTIONS
• MY TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM YOUR PROJECT WILL NOT EXCEED THE FEES YOU PAID FOR THAT PROJECT

16. Disputes and Governing Law

Before filing any formal dispute, you agree to contact me at patrick@patrickresendiz.com to try to resolve the matter informally.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes not resolved informally will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Sangamon County, Illinois, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

17. Changes to These Terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect when you book applies to your project. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
